There is always going to be limited space in the smaller kitchens of the world; and yet, somehow some areas of these kitchens are still not being utilized properly, making everything seem smaller than it already is. Before calculating how long it might take to save the money to blast down a wall, realize that the situation is not hopeless. There are many solutions to be found in order to better organize your small kitchen, and the process could even become an adventure. Below are just a few creative kitchen storage solutions for small kitchens.
If there are any appliances or cooking ware that aren’t being used on a frequent basis, transfer them to another storage area in another part of the home. For instance, if there is a special set of dishes you use for holidays and other special occasions, wrap them up safely and put them in a closet for later. This will leave a lot more room overall.
Kitchen cabinets and drawers are only so big, so only so much can be kept in them. Using standard white kitchen cabinets organizers to increase your space vertically will allow you to hold more in each cabinet. You might also want to consider what you could put on the counters to free up that space. What appliances or other items do you use so much that it warrants keeping them out in the open for easy reach? Just make sure to leave enough room to be able to actually use what is left of the counter space with comfort and ease.
Don’t forget that any walls could be used as additional storage areas. Attach hangers and hooks for pots and pans, oven mitts, and towels, or whatever else you can think of. Using vertical space is a great way to increase your kitchen storage.
Does your kitchen have a bar area? Instead of cramming as many bar stools as you can in the area, have some shelving installed. Use it for canned goods, storage containers, bowls, cookbooks, anything you don’t mind being hidden from plain sight.
Having a small kitchen does not mean having to live in cramped and messy conditions. These are only the start for creative kitchen storage solutions for small kitchens, but are certainly enough to make your space begin to live up to its full potential.
