In today’s world, finding both affordable and eco-friendly kitchen storage ideas and solutions has never been easier! Companies are beginning to realize how important being environmentally conscious is to consumers and are putting out great new products to meet that demand. So if you’re looking for crafty ways to organize your kitchen and go green at the same time, you’ve got tons of great options to choose from.
Add some serious extra storage to your kitchen by adding a hutch or china cabinet. These beautiful, yet functional storage pieces offer plenty of room for all of your things as well as enhance your decor. Instead of purchasing a new piece, shop thrift store and consignment shops. Find a hutch that you find structurally sound and attractive. If the color doesn’t work for you, sand it down and paint it with low VOC paint. If you’d rather have something new, purchase a hutch that is made of reclaimed and recycled materials. There are many beautiful pieces of furniture available today that are made of recycled materials.
Use multi-purpose kitchen products and save space. Whenever you can buy one product that does multiple things, you’re eliminating clutter in your kitchen. For instance, instead of having a steamer and a strainer, buy a steam and strain combo. Buying multi-purpose pots, pans, small appliances and other kitchen accessories will free up an enormous amount of space in your kitchen and provide you with more storage room for other things.
Dry your dishes with a hanging dish rack. Many people use dish racks to air dry their dishes instead of wasting power with the dry cycle on their dishwashers. This saves both energy and money. Unfortunately, traditional dish racks can take up a large amount of counter space. Try a hanging dish rack instead. Hanging racks can be hung on any wall easily and are a great eco-friendly way to store and dry your dishes.
Add an eco-friendly wine rack to your kitchen to store your wine responsibly. There are dozens of very attractive wine racks on the market today that are made with environmentally conscious materials. If you don’t drink wine, consider using a wine rack to store cooking oils, vinegar and other bottled kitchen items. Many eco-friendly kitchen storage products can be used for multiple purposes to fit in with almost anyone’s lifestyle.
